The City of Richmond received $1.94 million of Prop 84 funds to renovate the Elm Park located in the Iron Triangle district of the City. POGO Park submitted the grant application on behalf of the City and was/is the driving force behind the project. mack5 was hired by the City of Richmond to be the project/construction manager and has supported property acquisition, planning, budgeting, scheduling and consultant contracting; provided design phase cost planning/estimating; and is the project’s construction manager. Elm Playlot is a community build project – the community was intimately involved in project design and is also involved in construction. Community members and local workforce work with the contractor during construction and are also building and installing some of the park features. A turn-of-the-[19th]century house located near the park property is being converted into a community center that will service residents. Park amenities include a zipline, trike path and global village. The park will have full-time “Park Hosts” to facilitate high-quality play opportunities for local children.
