Construction Value: $700,000
Project Size: 1.5 miles
Class I bicycle and pedestrian trail along the eastern side of Goodrick Avenue, north of Richmond Parkway, connecting the existing Class I San Francisco Bay Trail segment along Richmond Parkway to a new 1.5-mile segment of the Bay Trail north of the project site. The project is a segment of continuous Bay Trail alignment that extends from Buchanan Street in Albany to Atlas Road/San Pablo Avenue in Richmond, with alignment and all improvements located within the existing Goodrick Avenue public right-of-way.
The project includes a 10-foot-wide paved trail with two 2-foot-wide gravel shoulders. The work included construction of the asphalt concrete trail, concrete curb ramps and sidewalks, storm drain extensions, fencing, and installation of lightweight fill along Goodrick Avenue from Richmond Parkway to the EBRPD Bruener Marsh entrance. To construct the improvements, traffic control, storm water pollution prevention, and coordination with multiple public agencies was necessary. All SWPPP/stormwater requirements during construction were designed to mitigate the seasonal wetlands adjacent to the project. The project required that replacement marshland be created; the mitigation process created replacement marshland which included topsoil salvaged from the existing marshland, as well as planting new topseed.
