Via Verdi Drive, located along San Pablo Creek, is rendered unusable due to an active landslide. The project is being completed in two phases. The first phase was a temporary detour route and emergency repair to Via Verdi Drive due to landslide damages. The second phase recently completed construction and includes selective work and preservation in and around San Pablo Creek, and modifications to the embankments in conjunction with the provision of a large-diameter, 350 foot-long concrete culvert in the creek. Related mitigation under consideration includes additional restoration of San Pablo creek. It also includes street and sidewalk improvements, new roadwork striping, and site utilities.
Biological monitoring is required, and all disturbed portions of the project area will be rehabilitated with native vegetation and biodegradable erosion control measures. Additionally, offsite mitigation will occur at multiple locations to compensate for the impacts to special status species and loss of habitat.
